The medical bed shall be able to withstand the effect of impacts to the mattress support platform being applied during normal use.

Compliance Test Procedure

  • Place the mattress, as specified by the MANUFACTURER, onto the MATTRESS SUPPORT PLATFORM
  • Position moving elements free of supporting elements with inclination less than 7° in relation to horizontal
  • For height-adjustable platforms, position in the middle of the adjustment range
  • From 180 mm above the mattress, drop the impactor (see Figure BB.2) onto the MEDICAL BED 20 times at each “B” location (Figure BB.1)
  • Impactor may be guided to ensure accurate impact locations
  • After testing, no elements shall become loose, fractured, or present any HAZARD
